Aims of Sydney Wind Symphony The Sydney Wind Symphony aims to be a forum for the development and refinement of performance skills in musicians. The band has an open age policy with an average age of 25, and includes some of Australia's finest young musicians drawn from the Sydney metropolitan area. Performing members strive to enhance the band's reputation as Ambassadors for the City of Sydney and portray an image of excellence both in appearance and performance internationally and at home. The ensemble encourages visits from interstate, intrastate and overseas bands who have on numerous occasions been warmly received by the ensemble. The ensemble promotes the study, practice, knowledge, interest and love of music within the Sydney community by giving civic, public and charitable performances. The City of Sydney Wind Ensemble is versatile in all facets of bandsmanship and prides itself on the ability to provide suitable music for any occasion, including - music festivals, dinner dances, street parades, competitions, concerts, including specialised sections for fanfare, drums, brass and wind orchestra. All members of the ensemble are encouraged to continue their musical development under instruction from the Musical Director in an environment of fun and social activity enjoying the camaraderie of fellow musicians. The organisation of the ensemble is also an opportunity for personal
development, offering members experience in organisational roles and
involvement with committee activities. |
